We run a different programme during August at 11am. Occasionally an event or special day is marked which can also cause a change to the above pattern.

Together@11 is our family service, held on the first Sunday of every month at 11am.

Together@11 is a more informal time for all members of our Church family to meet together. There are no Sunday school meetings on these Sundays (Seed and Grow, JAM, Explorers and Pathfinders join us in our whole family service) but we do still operate our crèche.

We’ll all meet together on celebration festival days too, for Christmas Morning, Easter Sunday and Mothering Sunday for example.

All are invited to stay and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea at the end of the service.

Signing at St Mary’s

For the deaf and those with additional needs and for those who find signing enhances their worship, we are currently signing the first Sunday morning (Together at 11) services.

Please sit on the right hand side of church in front of the pulpit and do introduce yourself to the team before the service.

Sundays for children

Children’s groups run alongside the 11am Sunday service at St Mary’s Church (Except 1st Sunday – All Age Service) and there are children’s activities available at the Centre.

Seed and Grow: Pre-school age
Jesus and Me: Reception – School Year 2
Explorers: School Year 3-6

For more information about activities for children at the church or the Centre, contact Rebecca Steele at the Church Office on 677 1186 extension 27.

Youth on Sundays

For young people in school years 7-9
We meet on Sunday mornings from 11.00am in The Bank. There is time to chill and chat
followed by Bible teaching, games and activities.

For young people from year 10 up
We meet on Sunday evenings in The Bank between 8.30pm and 9.45pm.

Messy Church

Held on occasional Sunday afternoons between 3pm and 5pm in the Church hall (see our calendar for details), Messy Church’s values are about being Christ-centred, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration.

It’s a fun way of providing church for families!

Our first Messy Church was held in October 2012 and we have been running them successfully ever since.

There’s a Messy Church video below, or you could visit their website.

Sensory Sundays

Sensory Sundays are designed for families with additional needs.

We have created Bible stories for children with sensory difficulties,  who also benefit from a more interactive approach to learning. Stories are simple and engaging.

Activities, prayer and songs accompany the stories and afterwards, there is time to meet with the other families in a relaxed environment.

Details of Sensory Sunday appear in the weekly noticesheets.

They usually take place on the first Sunday of each month in the Main Hall at 11am.

Sundays at 7

On the first Sunday of most months we hold an in depth interview with a Christian who has a story to tell about how God has been at work in their life.

Over the past few years we have interviewed a wide range of Christians from our church and other places.

There is often a moment to enjoy some music before and during the presentation.

Sundays at Seven starts with refreshments at 6.30pm, followed by the main interview at 7pm.

The evening usually concludes by 8.15pm.

Christmas and Easter provide an wonderful opportunity to celebrate our faith in the God who lived and died on this earth.

Carol Services
Carol services are held in both St.Mary’s Parish Church and The Centre in the lead up to Christmas. We also host local schools as they celebrate Advent.

The Christingle service is an event enjoyed by all ages as the candles are lit. The Christingle is made up of a lighted candle (symbolising Jesus; the Light of the World), mounted on an orange (representing the world), and a red ribbon or tape around the middle of the orange (indicating the blood or love of Christ). Four cocktail sticks bearing dried fruit or sweets are also stuck into the orange (signifying the four seasons and the fruits of the earth).

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
Our midnight Holy Communion starts at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day follows the usual Sunday pattern of Holy Communion at 9am and 10.30am in the Centre and a Christmas Celebration service for all ages at 11am in the Parish Church. There is no evening service.

Both St.Mary’s and The Centre hold Good Friday services as well as a Maundy Thursdsay evening service at St.Mary’s. Easter Day is a great celebration of our faith.
