“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”

John 15:9 (NIV)

On Wednesday 5th December we were delighted to install Nicola Eastwood as the vicar of St Mary’s Church Upton.

We celebrated with a packed church and enjoyed hearing from Bishop Keith Sinclair. Bishop Keith spoke on Nikki’s chosen reading, John 15:1-17, The Vine and the Branches.

Representatives from the Church family gave Nikki gifts as symbols of her ministry.

“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

John 15:7-8 (NIV)

Remaining has a quality of eternity about it. What a passage for tonight. What a relationship, what a person is the person of the Lord Jesus, the True Vine and us, who are included in the branches, and what an invitation to remain. To remain with the loving and commanding and the choosing, the warning and the befriending which connects and enables the cleansing, the pruning, the asking, the glorifying, the keeping and the loving.
