Our Centre Manager Moira Nelson writes:

CAP Wirral is part of a national charity – Christians Against Poverty- CAP that seeks to lift people out of debt and poverty. It’s aim is to “serve the poor, save the lost, with the church, across the nation”. CAP Wirral started in 2012 working with churches in the Wirral and partnering with St Mary’s to set up a Debt Centre.

Since November 2012 CAP we have seen around 250 clients. So far 33 have bcome debt free and 31 have made a profession of faith.

There is a paid, part time Centre Manager and a volunteer Debt Coach who see two new clients each month from within the parish and across Wirral. The two Debt Coaches work with volunteers from Wirral churches, including St Mary’s, to provide a free service. Volunteers serve as visitors and befrienders as they seek to support clients as they move towards being debt free.
